Brian Ray grew up in Richardson, TX with his parents, Rick & Marsha and his little sister Melissa. He graduated from The University of Texas in Austin where he majored in accounting (yuck) and minored in photojournalism. When he was supposed to be studying, Brian shot freelance assignments in Austin for several newspapers, magazines and wire services located around the country. After graduation he worked as a staff photojournalist for the Steamboat Pilot & Today in Steamboat Springs, CO until he got married and moved back to Texas.

Brian Ray lives in Fort Worth, TX with his wife Courtney and a fuzzy four-legged terrorist named Izzy (she's actually a 1-year-old chocolate lab). In addition to running The Clearer Image with Courtney, Brian is a full-time Firefighter / EMT for the City of Fort Worth. The fire dept's schedule (24 hours on duty, 48 hours off) allows maximum flexibility for scheduling photo assignments. When he's not taking pictures or working at the station, Brian enjoys doing just about anything outdoors....fishing, camping, building something at the house or chasing the dog.

Courtney Ray was born in Fort Worth, Tx. She grew up in Burleson with her parents, Michael and Diana and her twin sister Brittany. She graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos where she majored in Interior Design. After graduation she moved back to Fort Worth where she and Brian married a few months later. Though interior design was a rewarding experience in school, this has proved not to be her calling. Instead, she decided to use her own photography & communication skills to help expand the family business.

Courtney lives in Fort Worth where there is never a dull moment with her husband Brian and a lovable chocolate lab named Izzy (lovable of course means fuzzy hooligan). When she isn't chasing Izzy or helping Brian run The Clearer Image, she spends her time trying to fit 1500 square-feet of stuff into a 900 square-foot house.....and dreaming about a long vacation to Colorado.

First and most importantly, we know planning your wedding can be stressful so if there is anything we can do to help you, please don't hesitate to let us know. It doesn't even have to be photography-related.


Our Philosophy

Our style is influenced heavily by Brian's experience as a photojournalist. If you're looking for a photographer to say "Cheese!", I'm probably NOT your guy. We don't pose people (except for portraits of course), we don't tell you when to cut the cake, when to kiss the bride, or when to dance with your dad. Instead, we work hard to be there when the moment happens, capture the spontaneous laughter and stay the heck out of your way!

Our Team

We shoot every wedding as a team...Brian is the primary photographer and Courtney works as his assistant and serves as a second photographer. This allows us to shoot multiple angles/locations and it gives us access to both the bride's and groom's parties as they prepare for the ceremony.

Brian has been shooting weddings for about 6 years and Courtney has been assisting/shooting the whole time. We use a full complement of Nikon professional digital camera equipment, Alien Bee studio lighting gear, and Apple editing computers. We carry almost 3 complete sets of equipment to each wedding just in case something were to break.

Occasionally we use a few special film cameras during portrait sessions to achieve a unique vintage perspective. We have a large format camera (think tripod, big bellows and a cape over the photographer's head) and several medium format plastic toy cameras for this purpose.

Our Services

We are based in Fort Worth, TX and photograph weddings in North Texas year-round. In addition, we are available for travel to weddings throughout Texas and destination weddings anywhere in the world.

We offer three packages for wedding photography as well as several "a la carte" items. However, we are more than happy to design a package that fits your needs if you find something missing. Each package includes at least one portrait session that can be used for engagements, bridals,
"trash-the-dress"...pretty much anything you can think of. All of our packages also include digital negatives of each image captured during your wedding as well as a rebate on prints ordered through our website. Please note that digital negatives have been only lightly color-corrected. Each image that is purchased as a print is then custom edited to retouch any blemishes, optimize color and enhance clarity.

If you don't see something on the price sheet that you are interested in, please contact us. Albums, for example, do not appear on the price sheet because they vary so widely in price and style. We can provide customized products and services based on your needs and budget. Simply contact us with your request and we will provide a quote promptly.
